Jamie Reid (UK)

Jamie Reid (b. England 1947) is a graphic designer and a visual-art activist, he is Associated with the Anarchist and Situationist movements of Europe and specifically England of pre 1960′s.

He is best known for the album covers he produced for seminal punk band, The Sex Pistols, in the late 1970′s.

Reid was involved in designing for and running the radical political magazine Suburban Press in the 1970′s. It was here that he developed his signature typography of culled and clipped newspaper lettering, reassembled in the form of kidnap ransom notes, which he used on the Pistols 1977 Never Mind the Bollocks Here’s the Sex Pistols album and on their two singles, Anarchy in the U.K and God Save the Queen, which in turn stylistically came to define the punk visual signature.
